1 kg of propylene glycol is equivalent to 0.97 liters at room temperature.
Propylene glycol should be stored in tightly closed containers away from direct light and sources of heat and humidity. At high temperatures, propylene glycol tends to oxidize giving rise to products such as propionaldehyde, lactic acid, pyruvic acid and acetic acid.
Regarding solubility, propylene glycol is miscible with water, acetone, alcohol and chloroform. Glycol is soluble in ether, immiscible with fixed oils, but capable of dissolving some essential oils.
Propylene Glycol can be used for various purposes, for example as a solvent, vehicle of pharmacological substances, food flavorings, it is used in extractions (glycolic extracts derived from maceration of the plant in propylene glycol), etc.
