LITHOS Sachets is a food supplement based on potassium and magnesium citrate.

LITHOS Sachets, is of particular help in subjects subjected to an intense loss of liquids, such as strong
sweating, diuresis or diarrhea, or in patients receiving drugs such as diuretics, laxatives and cortisones.

LITHOS Sachets also has a peculiarity, which distinguishes it from all other mineral supplements:
its alkaline nature.
In fact, being based on citrate, an alkaline salt, it is also useful to supplement a diet low in valences
alkaline (fruits and vegetables) or compensate for a diet with a high intake of protein or fat that
would cause an excessive acid load for the organism. (1)
This condition would facilitate, with its prolongation, the onset of some pathologies, such as osteoporosis and
kidney stones, which often occur, precisely with a low presence of citrates in the urine. (2)
In fact, it should be remembered that the citrate present in the urine represents one of the most important defenses
against the formation of urinary stones. (3,4)
From these considerations it is the right of the treating physician to use LITHOS ESWL also to supplement deficiencies
urinary levels of citrate and magnesium, as in calcic kidney stones, or to correct states of hyperacidity
urinary, as in uratic calculus, in accordance with what is indicated by the international literature (3).

DOSAGE
Each 3.85 g sachet of LITHOS Sachets contains 14 mEq of Potassium (547 mg) and 7 mEq of Magnesium
(90 mg) and 21 mEq of citrate, in a granular formulation that is dissolved in half a glass of water.

DOSAGE
We recommend taking two sachets a day, unless otherwise indicated by the doctor.
LITHOS Sachets should preferably be taken on a full stomach.

CONTRAINDICATIONS and PRECAUTIONS
LITHOS Sachets is contraindicated in patients suffering from hyperkalaemia or hypermagnesemia, or conditions
which may predispose to the appearance of such plasma alterations. Such conditions include
chronic renal failure, uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, acute dehydration.

INTERACTIONS
The simultaneous intake of LITHOS Sachets and potassium-sparing drugs (triamterene,
spironolactone, amiloride) could cause hyperkalaemia. It is therefore advisable to monitor the trend
of potassium.
There are no known interactions with other drugs.

HYPERSENSITIVITY AND UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS
Rarely, during treatment, mild gastrointestinal disturbances may develop such as: heaviness
abdominal, nausea and occasionally diarrhea. These symptoms can be alleviated by taking LITHOS Sachets on a full stomach.
