LITHOSOLV SACHETS is a food supplement of alkaline potassium salts of particular help in subjects subjected to intense loss of fluids, such as strong sweating, diuresis or diarrhea, or in patients receiving drugs such as diuretics, laxatives or cortisone. LITHOSOLV SACHETS is also able to correct the excessive acid load , which can be directly evaluated by measuring the urinary pH ; this can be easily done through the use of the strips attached to the package.
The urinary pH is a value that varies throughout the day with more significant drops during the night and in the morning; for this reason it is preferable to measure it especially upon awakening. If the pH value is lower than 6 it is advisable, if confirmed by the doctor, to make any correction by taking LITHOSOLV SACHETS in the morning and in the evening, then verifying its urinary alkalizing action with the appropriate strips.
In the presence of uratic stones it is advisable to maintain the urinary pH between 6.5-6.8 to favor the dissolution of the uric acid crystals (4). A daily water intake of 2.5-3 liters is also recommended to facilitate the dilution of urinary uric acid (4).

ACTION

LITHOSOLV BAGS also has a peculiarity that distinguishes it from all other mineral supplements: its alkaline nature. In fact, being based on citrate, an alkaline salt, it is also useful to supplement a diet low in alkaline values (fruit and vegetables) or to compensate for a diet with a high intake of proteins or fats that would cause an excessive acid load for the body. This condition would facilitate, with its prolongation, the onset of some pathologies, such as osteoporosis and kidney stones, which often manifest themselves with a scarce presence of citrates in the urine. It should in fact be remembered that the citrate present in the urine represents one of the most important defenses against the formation of urinary stones.
The changed dietary habits, linked to diets oriented to excessive intake of proteins or fats, tend to shift the metabolic balance of the organism towards an excessive acid load (1). This condition would facilitate, with its prolongation, the onset of some pathologies, such as osteoporosis and kidney stones (2), which often occur, precisely with a low presence of citrates in the urine and with an acidic urinary pH (5.0 -5.5). The maintenance of these urinary acid values would more easily induce the precipitation of uric acid present in the urine and the consequent formation of uric acid stones. On the contrary, the correction of this state of acidosis with alkalizing elements would favor the dissolution and solubilization of urinary uric acid.
From these considerations it is the faculty of the treating physician to use LITHOSOLV also to integrate deficient urinary levels of citrate and magnesium, as in calcic kidney stones, or to correct states of urinary hyperacidity, as in uratic stones, in accordance with what is indicated by international literature.

INGREDIENTS AND COMPOSITION

Tribasic potassium citrate: the tribasic nature of the citrate salt improves and optimizes bioavailability, that is the ability to release potassium, and at the same time carry out the alkaline action of this compound.

LITHOSOLV is presented in granular sachets of 4.7 g total weight containing 2 g of potassium citrate.

METHOD OF USE AND DOSAGE

The sachet of LITHOSOLV SACHETS dissolved in a glass of water allows you to prepare a pleasant citrus-flavored drink. We recommend taking one or two sachets of LITHOSOLV SACHETS per day. For different indications (prevention of kidney stones) follow the medical prescription.

USE OF pH STRIPS

Collect urine in a container. With dry hands, take a strip from the transparent sachet and immerse it in the urine for 1 second; remove it and drain the excess urine.
The wet part of the strip will take on a different color depending on the pH of the urine. Within 2 minutes, compare the color of the strip with that on the reference color chart, present in the package.
Read the value corresponding to the color that comes closest to that of the strip.
Disposable strips should be disposed of in household waste after use.
Note: any changes in the color of the unused strips do not affect their accuracy.

WARNINGS AND CONTRAINDICATIONS

LITHOSOLV SACHETS is contraindicated in patients with hyperkalaemia or hypermagnesemia, or with conditions that may predispose to the appearance of such plasma alterations. These conditions include chronic renal failure, uncontrolled diabetes mellitus.
The simultaneous intake of LITHOSOLV SACHETS and potassium-sparing drugs could cause hyperkalaemia. It is therefore advisable to monitor the progress of kalaemia.
There are no known interactions with other drugs. Rarely, mild gastrointestinal disturbances such as abdominal heaviness, nausea and occasionally diarrhea may develop during treatment. The tablet pack may be particularly suitable for these subjects.
