Phyllantus niruri (Euphorbiacea) : lipid-lowering agent for inhibition of cholesterol synthesis, increased fecal excretion of bile acids, facilitation of glycoprotein: lecithin cholesterol acyltranferase (LCAT) which is part of HDL lipoproteins, esterifying cholesterol. Antioxidant activity, greater than vitamin E, is very effective in suppressing oxidative damage to the liver.

Beta-glucans : they are soluble fibers, non-starchy polysaccharides, reduce the absorption of cholesterol in the intestine and inhibit its synthesis in the liver.

Plant phytosterols : structurally very similar to cholesterol. They reduce the absorption of cholesterol and bile acids, inhibit the hepatic synthesis of cholesterol. They increase the sense of satiety.

Bergamot polyphenols : antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, protect cells from oxidative stress and keep cholesterol levels under control.
