MEDIFOOD MCT Oil - Food for Special Medical Purposes

Indicated for supportive care in cases of:

• Short intestine.
• Pancreopathies.
• Cystic fibrosis.
• Hypercatabolic states (malnutrition, burns, sepsis).
• Lymphedema.
• Improves the composition of the lymph.
• It does not overload the lymphatic system.
• Long-chain fat oxidative disorders: LCHAD, VLCAD.

DOSAGE AND METHOD OF USE

The amount of MCT Oil used should be low initially and then gradually increased until desired levels are reached. In current clinical practice, 35/40% of total calories is usually not exceeded with MCT Oil. Normally divided doses of 15-20 ml (3-4 teaspoons / 1-2 sachets) per administration are well tolerated. The total daily amount of MCT Oil should be tailored to the clinical situation, therapeutic goals and nutritional needs.

MCT oil can be used: raw mixed with 50% extra virgin olive oil for salads and other foods; in cooking, at temperatures <150-160 ° C, to prevent thermal degradation; in addition to other foods (milk, carbonated drinks, juices, extra virgin olive oil).
