What is the role of MetaCartil® in improving the problems of articular cartilage and what is its supplementary contribution?

METABOLIC SYNERGISM

CHONDROITINSULFATE (400 mg) It is an endogenous glycosaminoglycan which constitutes the structure of the cartilage matrix. It counteracts cartilage degradation by interfering with the progression of structural changes in the joint tissues and physiologically promoting new formation.

GLUCOSAMINE (400 mg) It is a natural aminosaccharide constituent of the chain of glycosaminoglycans present in the cartilage joints. It turns out to be a fundamental substrate for the synthesis of cartilage, stimulating its production.

TYPE II COLLAGEN Type II collagen has a structure formed by 3 identical α1 chains intertwined with each other, conforming to tropocollagen II molecules. Once the collagen II molecules are formed, they compact themselves creating a fibrillar network that gives the tissue remarkable tensile strength properties; it is also a fundamental component of the external cartilage, constituting a fundamental part of the connective tissue. It intervenes in the processes of cell damage and in their reconstruction.

SYMPTOMATIC BENEFITS HARPAGOPHITE (90 mg) It is historically used as an analgesic. The main chemical components are: Iridoid glycosides, triterpenes, phytosterols and aromatic acids. The main constituent for its anti-inflammatory activity is the “Monoterpene Glucoside”. Harpagoside inhibits COX-2 (Cyclooxygenase-2) and Lipoxygenase.

VITAMIN D3 It is a steroid hormone known for its important role in regulating calcium and phosphorus levels in bone mineralization and in the assimilation of Vitamin A.

VITAMIN B1 Thiamine is also an important cofactor for enzymes in the Krebs cycle and in the pentose phosphate cycle. It is necessary for the synthesis of hemoglobin and for the production of GABA. Vitamin B1 is also an antioxidant that protects against lipid peroxidation.

IN SUMMARY

When the cartilage, due to physio-mechanical, pathological or traumatic causes, decreases the ability to self-regenerate, there is a lower production of glucosaminoglycans which leads to a decrease in the bonds between proteoglycans and cartilage, thus making the cartilage less resistant to mechanical compression and also reducing its protective function.
