Milk Thistle Phyto Plus Cento Fiori Food Supplement

The plus line is made by mixing the powder with the dry extract of the same plant. The dry extracts are powdery preparations, more or less agglomerated, obtained by total evaporation of the extractive liquids. At the origin they are always liquid preparations (fluid extracts) or of intermediate consistency (soft extracts) since a solvent (usually alcohol of an appropriate title) is used to facilitate the extraction of the active ingredients from the drug. Obviously the type of solvent used and the processing technique to favor the concentration of the substances contained varies from plant to plant. What remains fundamental is the guarantee of the concentration which must be achieved with suitable procedures, generally at reduced pressure and at a temperature at which the deterioration of the active ingredients is minimal. The titrated dry extracts are brought to the prescribed titre by means of appropriate inert substances.

  • Silybum marianum (fruits) dry extract 250 mg (2% silymarin)
  • Silybum marianum (fruits) phytosome dry extract 250 mg (33% silymarin)

PHYSIOLOGICAL EFFECT

It favors the digestive, hepatic and purifying functions of the organism and the metabolism of carbohydrates. Antioxidant.

The presence of phosphatidylcholine derived from soy lecithin led us to ask the manufacturer for a certified declaration of the absence of GMOs which was promptly supplied to us.
Unfortunately, silymarin and silybin have poor intestinal absorption, which limits their benefits. For this reason, many studies on the hepatoprotective properties of flavolignans have used complexed phospholipid ingredients carried out through phytosome technology, such as silymarin phytosome.
As demonstrated by comparative pharmacokinetic studies, silymarin phospholipid represents the most absorbable oral form of silybin known. In rats, after oral administration of silybin 200 mg / kg, plasma levels of silybin and its conjugated metabolites were below the analytical detection limit, while after oral administration of silybin phospholipid (200 mg / kg as silybin) plasma levels of silybin (free and total) were easily measurable, being well absorbed when in phytosome form.
In another rat study, Silybin given as silymarin phospholipid at 200 mg / kg was detectable in plasma within minutes, peaked after 1h, and its plasma levels remained elevated for more than 6 hours. The value present in the blood of free silybin after taking silymarin phospholipid was more than 400% compared to taking uncomplexed silymarin. Silymarin phospholipid quickly reaches the liver, passes through the liver cells and appears in the bile within 2 hours. The amount of silybin, which reaches the bile with silymarin phospholipid was at least 6.5 times higher than that from uncomplexed silybin administered as silymarin.
The pharmacokinetics of silymarin phospholipid in healthy human subjects showed that complexation with phosphatidylcholine improves the oral bioavailability of silybin 4.6 times compared with uncomplexed silymarin, presumably due to facilitated passage through the gastrointestinal mucosa.

THE PHYTOSOMES

The soy phospholipid complexes with vegetable active principles that are not very soluble in water and lipids give rise to phytosomes. In phytosomes the active principle forms hydrogen and / or polar bonds with the phospholipid. Phosphatidylcholine lends itself to this task, in fact it has a negatively polarized and a positively polarized head, which bind to the complementary polar groups of plant substances.
The bioavailability of various plant active ingredients can be irregular and poor due to limited gastrointestinal absorption and pH instability of the digestive tract. The poor absorption may be due to the size of the molecule of the plant principle that prevents its diffusion and to the little or no miscibility in the lipids.
Phosphatidylcholine forms a shuttle capable of transporting the active ingredients, protecting them, through the digestive tract and facilitating their absorption and bioavailability in organs and tissues.
