It is the essence for sadness and melancholy that appear suddenly and unexpectedly. Like a heavy black cloud, this state envelops the person leaving no more glimmer of light; and as it arrived it just as inexplicably disappears. There is a great lack of interest in the surrounding world, a sort of exclusion from normal life accompanied by the feeling of inability to get out of this state of profound malaise; it could all be summed up in two words: painful impotence. It is very easy for the Mustard state to manifest itself in non-analytical subjects, who do not have a great rational component, that is, subjects who live immersed in emotions. It is a valid remedy for all those depressions that apparently have no known cause (eg postpartum depression or that which occurs in premenstrual syndrome and menopause). Mustard, the yellow mustard flower, dispels darkness and brings back light and optimism, also increasing the sense of inner emotional stability.

The Mustard type can present with the following disorders: depression, loss of appetite, hypotension, sadness which can become anguish.
