Hyaluronic acid is a fundamental component present in the human body to give elasticity to the connective tissue and to 'lubricate the joints'. It is essentially a mucopolysaccharide that already exists in the human body, but with age its production begins to decrease, the skin loses tone and firmness with consequent appearance of wrinkles. In the skin, its function is to give volume and hydration through its ability to bind water molecules. Furthermore, hyaluronic acid is present in the tendons and cartilages and is a fundamental constituent of the synovial fluid. It is precisely this 'lubricating' liquid that allows the joint to slide.
