Powdered food for patients with Crohn's disease

Nestlé Health Science has developed food for special medical purposes such as Modulen IBD, which are distributed in hospitals and pharmacies. In particular, this polymeric food supports the diet of those suffering from Chronic Inflammatory Intestinal Diseases (IBD). In fact, under medical prescription, it is possible to completely replace one's diet or supplement it, taking from 30% to 40% of daily calories through Modulen IBD, which provides proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and trace elements. In fact, this food can be taken for short periods (6-8 weeks) even as the only nutritional source, precisely because it has a complete nutritional profile. Obviously, the doses will be adapted according to the diet therapy and the patient's needs: if taken as a simple supplement, during a phase of remission of the disease, 200 to 300g of product diluted in a quantity of water ranging from 850 ml will be sufficient. to 750 ml, depending on the concentration prescribed by the doctor; if, on the other hand, you are fed exclusively with Modulen IBD, when the disease is in the acute phase, the necessary quantity will be 400g per day, equal to a jar. It should also be remembered that, if necessary, Modulen IBD can be administered with an enteral feeding tube.
