NICEVAL R
Food supplement based on N-acetyl-L-carnitine, B vitamins and alpha-lipoic acid. The intake of these three substances can therefore help in peripheral nerve pathologies, such as lumbosciatica, cervicobrachialgia, carpal tunnel syndrome, diabetic neuropathies, cranial nerve dystrophy (hypoacusis and dizziness on a sensorineural basis), post-herpetic syndrome. N-acetyl-L-carnitine is a substance with the property of donating acetyl groups to coenzyme A, forming acetyl-coenzyme A, and thus triggering the Krebs cycle and the production of energy. The damaged nerve cell will then have more energy available to fuel its self-healing processes 1,2 . The B vitamins promote the formation of energy from food and improve brain and nervous functions, so much so that the Ministry of Health and the E.FSA (European Food Safety Authority) attribute the specific indication "The B vitamins contribute to the normal functioning of the nervous system " 3 . Alpha lipoic acid is an energetic anti-oxidant with a double action: on the one hand it is an enzymatic co-factor that promotes the formation of acetyl-coenzyme A, and therefore promotes the production of energy, without which the damaged nerve cell cannot self-repairing; on the other hand it is a shield that intercepts and neutralizes the oxygen-reactive species, or free radicals (ROS), responsible for the insult to the peripheral nerves 4 . For this reason, alpha lipoic acid has also been shown to be beneficial in chronic and worsening peripheral neuropathies, such as diabetic polyneuropathy 5 . In the product these three substances are associated with the aim of exploiting the benefits deriving from each of them, with the plus of an important characteristic: the alpha lipoic acid is formulated in a delayed release matrix, the matris retard, which guarantees the absorption of 97, 5% of the active ingredient, over ten hours, where studies conducted on alpha-lipoic normaliacides have shown that the average bioavailability is 25% 6 .It can be taken by the diabetic, the celiac, the lactose intolerant.
