Food supplement based on Tryptophan

Tryptophan, one of the essential amino acids in human nutrition, Precursor of serotonin, melatonin and niacin, tryptophan is vital for increasing serotonin concentrations. This plays a fundamental role in the multiple functions of the organism and, in particular, in depression, anxiety, mood and appetite control. Furthermore, since serotonin is unable to cross the blood-brain barrier when its levels are insufficient, only supplementation with tryptophan allows them to be effectively raised; the pineal gland is the main organ of the human body responsible for regulating the circadian biological rhythm on the basis of the main cosmological rhythm, that of the alternation of the period of light with that of darkness.

The presence of a normal light / dark circadian rhythm in the blood levels of melatonin represents a fundamental physiological parameter characterizing the optimal state of well-being. The essential amino acid tryptophan; it induces the pineal gland in the center of the two cerebral hemispheres at a frequency of 8hz, stimulating the production of melatonin and pinolin. Tryptophan, from which serotonin is endogenously synthesized, is present in numerous foods, especially meat and dairy products.

This essential amino acid is available in the plasma, both in free form and bound to plasma proteins, but only the free form, in competition with other amino acids, is able to cross the blood brain barrier to be then transformed by specific enzymes. Ultimately, only a very small percentage of the tryptophan taken with food is transformed into serotonin 2. A "natural" help, therefore, against depressive syndromes and certain forms of obesity could be represented precisely by tryptophan whose administration leads to a significant increase of serotonin levels.
