Semen analysis abnormalities can be idiopathic or secondary to identifiable processes. They range from the total absence of sperm in the ejaculate (azoospermia) to its qualitative abnormalities (oligospermia, asthenospermia, teratospermia or a combination of these). The volume of ejaculate, which may be above or below the normal range of 1.5 to 5ml, contributes to infertility in a small percentage of infertile men.
