Parmask Medical FFP2 Mask - Personal Protective Equipment
With the new coronavirus epidemic becoming a pandemic, people have started to worry about their health and safety. Parmask Medical has prepared for you the list of differences between respiratory filtration standards of masks such as N95, FFP3 and FFP2, which we have been hearing about frequently recently. Therefore, we wanted to share and inform you which mask plays the most effective role in preventing this pandemic. Parmask Medical cares about your present and your future.
What are the differences between masks and respirators (breath filters)?
It is useful to distinguish between respiratory masks, which in English are called "respirators / respiratori", and normal masks. In everyday parlance, we technically call breath filtering devices masks, but you need to distinguish between the two.
Masks and areas of use
The masks are wide and cover the nose and mouth.
The mask designed for one-way protection, retains body fluids.
It is worn during surgery to prevent patients from being affected by dangerous situations such as coughing and sneezing.
Contrary to popular belief, masks are not designed to protect the wearer; The goal is to protect the other person.
The vast majority of masks do not have a standardized degree of safety.
Areas of use for respirators (respiratory filters)
Respirators are tight fitting masks designed to create isolation.
Valveless masks provide two-way protection by filtering both air inlet and outlet.
These masks are designed to protect the wearer as long as they are used correctly.
Standard for Respiratory Masks
While respirators are designed to fully protect the wearer, surgical masks are not. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) specifies N95 respirators as part of the recommended protective equipment for Covid-19 disease. This indicates that an N95 or better respirator is acceptable protection.
N95 or FFP3 and FFP2
The most commonly discussed type of respirator is N95. This is an American standard administered by NIOSH, which is part of the Center for Disease Control (CDC). Europe uses two different standards. FFP (filtering facepiece) derives from the EN 149: 2001 standard. The EN 143 standard covers the P1 / P2 / P3 values. Both standards are provided by the CEN (European Committee for Standardization).
