Peptamen Intense Nestlé - Food for Special Medical Purposes

Peptamen® Intense is a food for special medical purposes, nutritionally complete, norm-calorie, highly hyperproteic and with a reduced intake of carbohydrates, easily absorbed and digested. For enteral nutrition of critically ill adult patients who require high protein intake and avoid glycemic peaks.

Indications

Peptamen® Intense contains:

• Hydrolyzed whey proteins with small peptides, with high gastrointestinal tolerability and enhancement of the body's antioxidant defenses. The high protein concentration is in line with the most recent scientific recommendations on the nutrition of critically ill patients in intensive care, and is intended to counteract protein catabolism and lean mass depletion in critically ill patients.

• Advanced lipid blend consisting of vegetable oils, with a ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 lower than 2, to promote the modulation of inflammatory processes. The presence of 50% of the lipid source as MCT promotes the digestibility of the nutritional blend.

• Low in carbohydrates with the aim of improving the management of stress hyperglycemia. The carbohydrate fraction is mainly composed of maltodextrins obtained from the hydrolysis of corn starch.

Peptamen® Intense is specifically indicated for enteral nutrition of critical and hypercatabolic patients in intensive care, in particular:

• Hypercatabolic patients

• Hemodynamically stable septic patients

• Patients with respiratory failure in assisted ventilation

• Burned

• Obese patients

• Stress hyperglycemia

Peptamen® Intense can be used as the sole source of nutrition.

• PROTEINS: 46 g / 500 ml: The protein source of PEPTAMEN ® INTENSE is represented by hydrolyzed whey proteins, to strengthen the body's antioxidant defenses. • LIPIDS: 18 g / 500 ml PEPTAMEN ® INTENSE is formulated with an advanced lipid blend consisting of vegetable oils, with a ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 fatty acids lower than 2, to promote the modulation of inflammatory processes. The presence of 50% of the lipid source as MCT increases the digestibility of the nutritional blend.
• CARBOHYDRATES: 36 g / 500 ml PEPTAMEN ® INTENSE is a hypoglucide formula. The low carbohydrate content is intended to improve the management of stress hyperglycemia. The carbohydrate fraction is mainly composed of maltodextrins obtained from the hydrolysis of corn starch.
• VITAMINS AND MINERALS PEPTAMEN ® INTENSE provides all the vitamins and minerals as required by Presidential Decree no. 57 of 20/03/2002 in optimal quantities to guarantee coverage of the daily requirement with an intake of 1,500 ml (1500 kcal).

How to use

Shake well before use. PEPTAMEN ® INTENSE in the closed package can be stored at room temperature in a dry place away from heat sources. The opened bottle, connected to the universal adapter, must be used within 24 hours. The opened bottle must be closed again, stored in the refrigerator and used within 24 hours. PEPTAMEN ® INTENSE is valid for 12 months from the production date.

Water, hydrolyzed whey proteins, maltodextrins, medium chain triglycerides, fish oil, vegetable oils (rapeseed, sunflower), minerals (sodium citrate, magnesium citrate, sodium phosphate, sodium chloride, ferrous sulphate, sulphate zinc, copper sulfate, manganese sulfate, sodium fluoride, chromium chloride, potassium iodide, sodium selenate), emulsifier (soy lecithin), choline chloride, vitamins (C, E, niacin, pantothenic acid, B6, B2 (riboflavin), B1 (thiamine), A, folic acid, K, biotin, D), L-carnitine, taurine. Gluten free. UHT sterilized. Packaged in a protective atmosphere.

PEPTAMEN® INTENSE is packaged in sterile 500ml SmartFlex ™ bottles with universal attachment compatible with all bag sets. The new SmartFlex ™ packaging is a closed, self-collapsing system that combines the safety of the bag with the practicality of the bottle. Smartflex ™ is unbreakable, practical to store and easily recyclable.
