Description
Retrograde colon irrigation system.
The product is intended to facilitate the evacuation of the contents of the lower colon and the descending colon through the use of a rectal catheter with an inflatable balloon.
The product is indicated for patients suffering from fecal incontinence, stipsicronic and / or time-consuming bowel management procedures.
The product is suitable for adults (of both sexes) and children over 3 years.
Transanal irrigation with Peristeen Plus should not be performed in the following situations, as mechanical obstruction or weakening of the colon tissue caused by any of the following factors increases the risk of intestinal perforation, trauma or bleeding:
- known anal or colorectal stricture;
- colorectal cancer (active / relapsing);
- within 3 months of anal or colorectal surgery;
- within 4 weeks of an endoscopic polypectomy;
- ischemic colitis;
- acute inflammatory bowel disease;
- acute diverticulitis.

How to use
1. The screw cap, including the lid, must be replaced after 90 uses (equivalent to 6 months of use *). Remember to keep the screw cap, including the lid, when replacing the water bladder.
2. The water bladder must be replaced after 15 uses (equivalent to 1 month of use *).
3. The control unit must be replaced after 90 uses (equivalent to 6 months of use *).
4. The tube with the turquoise connector must be replaced after 90 uses (equivalent to 6 months of use *) or when it is dirty.
5. The prelubricated balloon catheter is for single use only.
6. The laces must be replaced when they lose elasticity.
* If you perform the watering procedure every two days.

Warnings
- Transanal irrigation with Peristeen Plus is not recommended in current or planned pregnancy as the product has not been evaluated in this patient population.
- It is imperative for patient safety to consult a physician / healthcare professional experienced in the use of transanal irrigation with Peristeen Plus before performing the irrigation procedure. - Before using this product, you must receive thorough instruction from a health care professional, who must also supervise the first irrigation.
- The transanal irrigation procedure should always be performed with caution.
- Make sure that the catheter size (Regular or Small) indicated on the package matches those recommended by the healthcare professional. Balloon catheter insertion should not be forced. Intestinal perforation occurs very rarely in transanal irrigation, but is a serious and life-threatening complication requiring immediate hospitalization and often surgery.
- Seek immediate medical attention if any of the following occur during or after the transanal irrigation procedure with Peristeen Plus:
1. severe or prolonged abdominal pain or back pain, especially if associated with fever;
2. severe or prolonged anal bleeding.
- Reuse and / or washing or disinfection of the balloon catheter is not recommended as it is pre-lubricated, as these operations could compromise the characteristics of the product, causing an additional risk of intestinal perforation.
