Osmanthus is a tree native to Asia, which grows from the Himalayas to China and in particular in the city of Guilin, one of the most picturesque cities in all of China. The city is located in the northeast of the Guangxi Zhuang Region, on the western bank of the beautiful Lijiang River, Li. The surroundings of Guilin are famous for their "dragon's teeth", which are mountains covered with osmanthus forests. Literally Guilin in fact means “osmanthus forest”, which bloom mainly between October and November, intoxicating the entire valley with a sweet perfume. The Greek etymology of “Osmanthus” already expresses the peculiarity of the plant; osmé means "perfume", while anthos means "flower".

The delicate scent of flowers carries a long way, instilling a tender sense of nostalgia in the hearts of the Chinese.
Source of poetic inspiration, osmanthus has also become a legend. It is said that, over the centuries, the giant Wu Gang tried in vain to snatch the beautiful "Osmanthus" grown in the Lunar Paradise, so jealous and infuriated was he for its fragrant floral luminosity.

For several hundred years, a festival has been held in the city of Hangzhou where people gathered to taste osmanthus based foods while watching folk dances and songs. To the delight of tea lovers, the Chinese have discovered that osmanthus can also be used to enhance the natural fruity flavor of some green or black teas. In the province of Yunnan, for more than twenty-three centuries, the custom of making, during the autumn holidays, an osmanthus flower liqueur that is served in a jade cup has been perpetuated.

Osmanthus, known for 2000 years, has always been appreciated for its very fragrant flowers, with a fruity-floral scent reminiscent of apricot. Notes: white flower, apricot, fruit, leather, exotic essences. Absolute osmanthus is very expensive and is used in artistic perfumery. The plant was imported to Japan in the 17th century, and introduced to Europe in 1771.

A sensual, sophisticated and bold fragrance built around the Osmanthus flower with sweet fruity accents. Jasmine Sambac and sandalwood reinforce the intriguing and enigmatic part of this perfume. The base reveals an amber-woody carnal signature, where vanilla, labdanum and Tolu balm are mixed.
