Spirulina is a single-celled algae that belongs to the category of blue algae. However, its color is dark green due to the high concentration of chlorophyll and its shape is spiral (hence the name).

It is an algae very rich in nutritional components:

• High protein content, especially essential amino acids
• Rich in lipids, especially omega 6
• Presence of B vitamins, tocopherol, inositol, beta-carotene
• Rich in minerals, among which, however, the iodine that abounds in seaweed (fucus and laminaria) does not appear

All these characteristics make it a good supplement for athletes and for those who follow a vegan diet.
