Borderless, sterile adhesive dressing in hydrocellular polyurethane foam with mild gel adhesive. The Allevyn Gentle Border dressing has been designed to handle exuding wounds with maximum safety and comfort, to prevent exudate from hindering the regular healing process. In fact, Allevyn Gentle Border optimizes the wound environment, allowing: faster healing, a reduction in the risk of maceration, an intimate contact between the dressing and the wound bed and effective protection from external contaminating factors. of several peculiar factors such as: the unique triple action sandwich structure with joint and shaped edges and the ability to manage fluids at the top among polyurethane foams.

Indication
Management by secondary intention of chronic and acute, full, partial or superficial thickness, granulating, exuding lesions such as: pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, infected wounds, diabetic foot ulcers, oncological lesions, surgical wounds, first and second degree, sampling sites, pathologically hyperproliferating wounds. ALLEVYN Gentle Border is indicated for use on fragile skin. Advantages of foam dressing Structure Thanks to its structure and peculiar composition, Allevyn Gentle Border allows you to manage exuding lesions with fragile periwound skin in maximum safety. The sandwich structure of Allevyn Gentle Border is made up of: • an external layer in polyurethane film, impermeable to liquids and bacteria, with dynamic transpiration, capable of creating an impenetrable barrier from the outside to defend the wound but with a variable transpiration based on the humidity conditions of the wound. • a soft and absorbent intermediate layer in polyurethane foam with hydrocellular technology, with internal dispersion of polyethylene glycol particles. • a perforated wound contact layer of polyurethane film, coated with a mild silicone gel adhesive that is not adherent to the wound bed. Ability to manage exudate Its unmatched ability to manage the humid environment derives from the combination of several properties: Breathability: the dynamic breathability of the outer layer allows excess moisture to evaporate and this evaporation is higher the more the foam is soaked in liquids. In this way the saturation times of the foam are lengthened, reducing the risks of maceration. Barrier Function: The outer layer acts as a barrier to contaminants, preventing both entry and escape. The result of this is protection from cross-contamination, infection, maceration. Absorption: Allevyn Gentle Border has a much higher absorption capacity than hydrocolloids, alginates and hydro-fiber. The hydrocellular technology allows to exploit the synergy between two distinct absorption mechanisms: capillary absorption and cellular / molecular absorption. Both mechanisms, aided in the activation by the polyethylene glycol (PEG) dispersed in the foam, help to absorb the exudate distributing it vertically and then laterally. Non-traumatic: the perforated contact layer covered with a silicone gel adhesive avoids any entrapment of newly formed tissue in the dressing. This function allows to obtain an atraumatic dressing removal without damage to the newly formed tissue and to the periwound skin. Joint and shaped edges: Allevyn Gentle Border has joint and shaped edges to maximize the conformability of the dressing and which by forming a sandwich structure ensure that the dressing does not deconstruct during use or removal. of the hydrocellular polyurethane foam of Allevyn Gentle Border offers a remarkable pressure relief, which together with the softness guarantees protection to the wound and comfort to the patient. Advantages of Allevyn Gentle Border adhesive The silicone gel adhesive spread on the contact surface of Allevyn Gentle Border, in addition to being non-sensitizing and well tolerated, offers good adhesion to the periwound skin, but not to the bottom of the wound. The silicone gel adhesive ensures good fixation without the need for secondary dressing. From the point of view of safety of use, Allevyn Gentle Border minimizes damage to both the wound and the periwound skin upon removal, and minimizes pain for the patient thanks to the reduction of epidermal cell stripping. Furthermore, where appropriate, Allevyn Gentle Border allows it to be reapplied in situ easily after a possible inspection of the wound.

How to use
Application Select the most suitable dressing format. Prepare the wound according to the protocol in use. Apply the dressing with the white side to the wound and settle the edges. Allevyn Gentle Border can be used under an elastic compression bandage (e.g. PROFORE *) or in combination with INTRASITE * Gel for wounds with dry or wet necrotic tissue (slough). Removal Lift one corner of the dressing and slowly pull back until completely detached. Frequency of dressing changes Allevyn Gentle Border can stay in place for up to 7 days (subject to wound conditions and clinical protocols in use) and ensuring during 7 days optimal exudate management. It can be left in place until exudate approaches 1.5 cm from the edge of the dressing

Warnings
Do not use oxidizing agents such as hypochlorite solution or hydrogen peroxide which could damage the foam structure. In case of skin redness or sensitization, discontinue treatment.
