Munatoril Aerosol
Medical device
Sterile solution to be nebulized based on N-acetylcysteine and hyaluronic acid (obtained by biotechnology, free of animal proteins), indicated to protect and to create a barrier effect against the mucosarine-oro-pharyngeal subject to redness and infections. N-acetylcysteine decreases mucus viscosity, lubricates and relieves inflammation-related symptoms such as difficulty swallowing, a sensation of a foreign body, tickling or dryness. hyaluronic acid adheres to the mucosa surface and, by retaining the physiologically present water, forms a protective film, giving relief to the irritated mucosa. Thanks to the barrier effect, the mucosa maintains its integrity and is protected from the aggression of external hepatogenic agents.
Munatoril aerosol is a sterile solution to be nebulized, to be used in case of acute or chronic diseases of the respiratory tract (tonsillitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis, rhinitis, tracheo-bronchitis, bronchitis), cough of various kinds, flu or cold syndromes, inflammation of the cords vocals, redness, hoarseness, respiratory tract problems due to gastro-oesophageal reflux, post-op post-op in ENT.

Add physiological solution in a 1: 1 ratio. Deliver the product through the nasal cavity, using the device; - in case of use of half the dose, the container can be closed by turning over and pressing the cap. The reclosed single-dose vial must be stored at room temperature and used within 24 hours of first opening.
It can be used at any time of the day without particular time and hour restrictions. The duration of treatment should not exceed 30 days; the duration of use depends on the evolution of symptoms; if symptoms persist after a certain period of time, consult your doctor.
Components
N-acetylcysteine, hyaluronic acid sodium salt, thyme essential oil, EDTA disodium, polysorbate 20, monobasic sodium phosphate dihydrate, disodium phosphate heptahydrate, sodium hydroxide, water.
Warnings
Do not exceed the recommended dose. Keep out of the reach and sight of children.Avoid contact with eyes. The possible presence of a sulphurous odor does not indicate alterations to the preparation but is specific to a component of the formulation. Do not use after the expiration date or if the package is opened or damaged. Since N-acetylcysteine can chemically react with certain types of material (rubber, iron, copper), it is advisable to use glass or plastic aerosol devices; for appliances that have metal or rubber parts, it is necessary to wash the appliances with water immediately after use. The administration of N-acetylcysteine, especially by aerosol, can fluidify and increase the volume of the bronchial mucus, especially at the beginning of the treatment. Therefore, if this occurs and fails to eliminate bronchial secretions through coughing, seek medical attention. N-acetylcysteine can be taken together with bronchodilator or vasoconstrictor drugs, in this case the product must be used as soon as possible. N-acetylcysteine should be taken with caution and always under medical supervision in the following cases:
- if you suffer from bronchial asthma. Immediately stop taking the product if contraction of the bronchial muscles appears (bronchospasm);
- if you suffer from or have suffered from a peptic ulcer, especially if you are taking drugs with a known gastric-damaging effect.
There are no known interactions with other products. Before using the product in association with other drugs or medical devices, consult your doctor. Contact your doctor if you are taking any of the following medications:
- nitroglycerin, which when used concomitantly with N-acetylcysteine, can cause reduction in blood pressure (hypotension) and headache (headache), making blood pressure monitoring necessary;
- antibiotics, as in vitro tests have shown a lower activity of the antibiotic in the simultaneous presence of N-acetylcysteine.
Laboratory tests: N-acetylcysteine may interfere with some blood and urine tests (colorimetric assay for the determination of salicylates and tests for the determination of ketones). Tell your doctor before undergoing these tests.
Product contraindicated for use in children under the age of two. Do not use in case of individual hypersensitivity to one of the components of the product. The safety of use of the product during pregnancy and lactation has not been demonstrated. In such circumstances, it is advisable to consult the opinion of your doctor.
As a precaution it would be good not to take other drugs at the same time as N-acetylcysteine, in particular they should not be taken:
- antitussive drugs, because following the reduction of the cough reflex they can lead to an accumulation of mucus inside the bronchi;
- drugs that can inhibit and decrease the volume of bronchial secretions (anticholinergics), because they can have the opposite effect to that of N-acetylcysteine.
The use, especially if prolonged, of all topical products could give rise to sensitization phenomena. In this case, stop the treatment and consult your doctor to institute appropriate therapy. If you notice any undesirable effects, which are not described in the package leaflet, please inform your doctor or pharmacist. The administration of N-acetylcysteine can cause possible undesirable effects, such as hypersensitivity, bronchospasm, rhinorrhea, bronchial obstruction, stomatitis, vomiting, nausea, urticaria, rash, itching. In very rare cases, severe skin reactions have occurred (Stevens Johnson syndrome or Lyell syndrome). In most cases at least one other suspected drug has been identified and more likely involved in the genesis of the aforementioned reactions, in each case these microcutaneous changes occur. stop taking N-acetylcysteine and contact your doctor. Some studies have shown a possible reduction in platelet aggregation when taking N-acetylcysteine.
