Pleurotus Myco-Vital Food supplement

It is an edible mushroom with white flesh, embedded in a white, gray or brown body, without feet and with a shape that resembles an oyster and can reach 25 cm in diameter. Its meat is highly appreciated both for its taste and for its fragrance, in the West as well as in the East.

Nutritionally, in addition to its protein content, it stands out for the relative abundance of B vitamins, vitamin D and zinc.

Widely used in China as a muscle relaxant and especially against contractures and tendonitis. It is also used for back pain and muscle aches in general. It is considered as an element that acts against excessive cold and the energy blocks deriving from this excess.

In addition to various polysaccharides and proteoglycans, it contains lovastatin (2.8%), ostreolysin, laccase, lectin and other peptides and fatty acids.

Lovostatin is a chemical compound with formula C24H36O5, isolated from Aspergillus terreus and Pleurotus ostreatus, and also produced synthetically during the 1980s. White powder, insoluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol and methanol. It was the first drug in the statin family to be used extensively in the treatment of hypercholesterolemia. It works by inhibiting 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A (HMGCo-A) reductase, the enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of HMGCo-A to mevalonate, the first step in the endogenous synthesis of cholesterol (source: Encyclopedia Treccani).
