Profecol
Multi-phase food supplement with synergistic action. The synergistic action of the individual components, able to act on different levels, allows a food integration able to guarantee the support of the gastrointestinal system in all those situations in which it is necessary to integrate the diet in order to carry out an adjuvant or support to other therapies, such as antibiotic or laxative ones that can alter the composition of the microflora and the impermeability of the intestinal mucosa. In summary, Profecol, despite being a food supplement and not a drug, is useful for supporting the physiological integrity of intestinal functions.
Bovine colostrum
Colostrum is a thick liquid released during the first secretion of the breast after delivery. Although commonly called "first milk", the, in reality its composition is very different from that of the milk that will follow in the following hours. The function of colostrum is to provide the newborn with a nutrient source rich in substances capable of protecting the gastrointestinal mucosal and "preparing" it for colonization by microorganisms that will make up the intestinal bacterial flora. Colostrum, therefore, is a fundamental substance for a correct nutrition of the newborn. Its importance derives from the remarkable digestibility and the high presence of antibodies, in particular immunoglobulin A (IgA) whose main function is to protect the organism from dangerous infectious processes and from food sensitization. Colostrum is also characterized by the considerable presence of vitamins, amino acids, cell growth factors and albumin. In addition to supporting the immune functions, colostrum plays an important role in the protection of the gastrointestinal system, helping to maintain the integrity of the gastrointestinal barrier, in order to limit penetration. of bacterial or other toxins, while at the same time reducing the risk of sensitization to the nutrients taken.
Medicago sativa
Also called Alpha-Alpha or Alfalfa, Medicago Sativa has important nutritional activities.
It is, in fact, a plant extremely rich in nutrients essential for cell growth. Alfalfa is one of the most important plant sources of vitamins of the B complex, necessary to complete the action of the free nucleotides present in the Profecol formulation. It is also a source of numerous other vitamins and, above all, of trace elements with an antioxidant action, protective on the intestinal mucosa and of numerous vitamin cofactors important for tissue repair and growth. Medicago sativa stimulates digestive functions and possesses important draining capacities thanks to the stimulating action on the hepatic detoxifying functions and to the diuretic one, mediated by the presence of specific alkaloids such as Trigonellin.
Free nucleotides
Profecol contains Ribolife a pool of naturally occurring 5 'monophosphate nucleotides obtained by enzymatic hydrolysis of ribonucleic acid obtained from yeast. They are found in the product in the free state in a high percentage. This characteristic makes them more bioavailable allowing for greater nutritional efficacy. The free nucleotides, present in Profecol, have long been introduced in the artificial feeding of the infant due to their evident immunostimulating characteristics, combining the stabilizing activity on the mucous membranes of the colon with substantial harmlessness. Furthermore, under conditions of chronic stress there is an increased demand for nucleotides. The contribution of the same in the free state, allows a high saving of ATP that the cell can use for other functions with improvement of the self-regulating functions.
L-glutamine
L-glutamine is an amino acid which in stressful situations can be relatively deficient so as to require supplementation. The cells of the intestinal wall, in fact, absorb glutamine mainly from the intestinal lumen rather than from the capillary circulation. It follows that the nutritional supply of this amino acid is important to allow its absorption in appropriate quantities by the intestinal cells, especially in cases of increased need. Its supplementation in states of stress and deficiency is, in fact, important, as l-glutamine strengthens the barrier activity of the enteric mucosa also by stimulating the formation of mucus. Another important strengthening action of the functions of enteric cells carried out by this amino acid is linked to its close relationship with the production of surface immunoglobulin A which perform fundamental immunoprotective activities, both by acting on pathogenic microorganisms, and by allowing the intraluminal blockade of food antigens to prevent phenomena of hypersensitivity to the same.
Selenium
It is a fundamental trace element for the activity of glutathione peroxidase, undoubtedly the enzyme with the most important antioxidants in our body. Selenium, therefore, has a potential antioxidant activity carried out by alpha alpha and zinc for the protection of the intestinal mucosa from the inflammatory insult. Among other functions it contributes to the modulation of cell growth, to the production of antibodies and to the strengthening of the immune defenses.
Zinc
It is a trace element that enters the constitution of at least 20 enzymes and influences the action of at least 80 other enzymatic activities. It performs a metabolic function essential for cell growth, repair and development. Key element of nucleotide metabolism acts in synergy with the pool of free nucleotides present in Profecol. This activity, which is already important for a bowel in normal conditions, is essential in all situations that require epithelial repair and reinforcement of the intestinal barrier. In fact, zinc promotes the normal balance of tensions at the level of the tight junctions between the cells of the intestinal epithelium. This metal is also an indispensable element for the development and normal functioning of the cells of the immune system such as neutrophils and NK cells.
Contains milk and derivatives.
