Carpo-metacarpal osteoarthritis (CMC) of the first radius of the hand (thumb)

Main function of the Medical Device

The medical device provides stabilization of the thumb.

The medical device provides pain relief and provides functional improvement in case of carpometacarpal osteoarthritis.

Characteristics

Orthosis for the stabilization of the trapezium-metacarpal joint in the functional position of the thumb, maintaining the mobility of the other fingers and the grip of the hand. Rigid radial splint for relative immobilization of the first hand ray. Comfortable padded lining. Elastic band at wrist level and tongue at thumb level with hook and loop closure.

Available in right and left version.

How to wear it

Insert your hand into the orthosis so that the splint is aligned with the thumb and that the last joint is free. Tighten the hook and loop closure on the wrist for firm yet comfortable support. Pull the flap with the hook and loop closure around your thumb so that it passes between your thumb and forefinger from the dorsal to the palmar side. Then secure the tab through the hook and loop fastener.

Warnings and precautions for use

Store in a dry environment away from excessive heat and light.

Do not prolong the use of the product without medical advice.

The product is designed for use by one person only, do not use it on multiple people.

The product must not be used in direct contact with damaged skin.

If you encounter problems in using the product such as the appearance of pain or obvious local signs, remove it and contact a healthcare professional.

In the event of a serious accident following the use of the product, contact the manufacturer and the local health care provider.

When adjusting the straps, tighten them so they are stable but comfortable.

The brace should not be used if relative, absolute immobilization or surgery is required.

Washing instructions

Hand wash in warm water with neutral soap or detergent, rinse well, wring gently, let dry horizontally. Do not bleach, do not tumble dry, do not iron, do not dry clean.
