Ribes Nigrum what it is for
Woody shrub up to 150-180 cm tall with leaves similar to that of the vine. The flowers, gathered in groups of 2-4, are pedunculated and placed at the axil of the leaves. The fruits are black and large like the berries of the blueberry.
Curiosities about Ribes Nigrum
The term Ribes derives from the Arabic name of a plant with a pleasant and acidulous juice probably from “Ribas” = rhubarb. However, given the Nordic origin of the plant there are doubts about this etymology. Many argue that the term currant is instead of metaphorical origin: from the Latin grape with reference above all to gooseberries. Other names: Black gooseberry, ramà grape, piperella.
The crushed buds give off an unpleasant odor identical to that of cat urine.

How Ribes Nigrum is used
Internal use (hydroalcoholic solution of the leaves)
This Mother Tincture has antirheumatic, antiallergic, diuretic and astringent properties.
When using Ribes Nigrum
This product is indicated for rheumatism, gout, allergic rhinitis, chronic rhinitis, allergic symptoms affecting the respiratory tract.
The dosage includes 40 drops in a little water three times a day between meals.
Internal use (Bud extract of gems)
The glycerine macerate is more active than the solution in the treatment of allergies both preventively and symptomatically. In fact, it possesses anti-allergic properties, distinctly anti-inflammatory and stimulating the adrenal glands.
Indications : Allergies (bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis caused by pollen, urticaria, drug allergies), inflammatory states in general, ovarian cystitis and uterine fibroids, headache, arterial hypotension, asthenia.
Dosage : 50 drops in a little water 2 times a day (fasting morning and afternoon).
Notes: Ribes nigrum bud extract has a cortison-like action. In the case of allergic syndromes it is advisable to start treatment 2-3 months before the symptomatic period.
