It is not a real tea, because it is obtained from a plant native to South Africa, the Aspalatus linearis (Burm.f.) R. Dahlgren and not from the tea plant (Camellia sinensis (L.) Kuntze).
The chopped twigs and leaves are fermented for 6-8 hours and then dried.
With them we prepare an infusion with a red-amber color, with a pleasant and slightly astringent flavor.
It is proposed as a drink with antioxidant properties similar to those of green tea, but alternative, because unlike traditional teas, prepared with Camellia sinensis leaves, it does not contain caffeine and has a very low tannin content.
Rooibos is therefore a refreshing drink suitable for all ages, even for children, the elderly and nervous people.

How to use

It is prepared with water at about 90-100 ° C, and left to infuse for 4-5 minutes.
