Native to Asia Minor, the dog rose is a wild rose widespread in the temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere where it grows up to 1300 m in height.
Its berries (false fruits) are natural sources of vitamin C, which is present here in quantities up to 50-100 times higher than in oranges and lemons and this helps to strengthen the body's natural defenses.
In addition to being very rich in vitamin C (400 mg / hg), they appear as a red-yellowish cherry, due to the high content of carotenoids.
The other main active compounds of rose hips are phenolic compounds, flavonoids - which exert a synergistic action with vitamin C and promote its absorption in the body - and tocopherols.
