San Giovanni oil

of Hypericum

The oily extract of St. John's Wort, better known as St. John's Wort oil, is prepared by Erbamea with the flowering tops of this plant, just harvested on the Umbrian hills, placed to macerate in olive oil, in glass jars exposed to the sun, up to when the oil takes on its characteristic red color.
The harvest is done at the end of June. Tradition has it that the Hypericum is in full bloom on June 24, the day of St. John the Baptist: this is why it is commonly known as "St. John's Wort".
Hypericum oil is used for its emollient and soothing properties on reddened and parched skin due to excessive exposure to the sun, wind and other external agents.
