Aronia San Puro

• Functionality:
  Aronia melanocarpa, also known as Black Chokeberry, is a plant belonging to the Rosaceae family and grows wild in Canada and North America. Later it was introduced in Eastern European countries (Poland, Russia and Scandinavia), where it is cultivated and used as a medicinal plant. The fruits are the size of a pea and are often covered with wax, they may resemble blueberries in appearance but not in taste, which is much more astringent. Ripening takes place in autumn and a period of frost softens their taste. The berries are both processed into juices and dried and used as raisins.
