decongestant for the eyes with 80% distilled water of euphrasia with chamomile and centaury. Preservative free.

"The eyes are among the most precious organs of the body, therefore they enjoy a special natural protection (...). However, the protective action performed by the eyelids, eyelashes and eyebrows, although of primary importance, can sometimes prove insufficient in against insidious and too aggressive external agents, ready to threaten and compromise the regular biological rhythm of the eye. Wind, cold, humidity, rain, sunlight, but also dust and its allergens, at any time of the year can cause discomfort of varying degrees which, if not treated in an adequate and timely manner, risk becoming chronic in real pathologies that only an ophthalmologist can cure. Furthermore, the risks due to environmental pollution, not always quantifiable, involve every day and it is very difficult not to be touched. (...) Eye protection is as important in summer as in winter. (...) Given the specificity of the application surface, when formulating a product for ophthalmic use it is mandatory to take into account a series of chemical-physical and biological parameters that can influence biopharmaceutical aspects and tolerability. Sterility, pH, viscosity, isotony and anti-abrasiveness are the primary control and therefore guarantee factors for each preparation. For example, the pH of the tear fluid is 7.4; it follows that any ophthalmic solution must not deviate too much from this parameter, setting up a buffer system capable of keeping the physiological value constant. For any ophthalmic preparation, the requirement of sterility is undoubtedly fundamental and can be obtained by preparing good processing and packaging methods, such as to guarantee adequate conservation in the prescribed time. Eye baths can be considered as adjuvants to improve the hygienic-decongestant treatment. (...) The distillates-hydrolates, in fact, are aqueous liquids with an excellent degree of chemical-physical and microbiological purity, with invigorating, refreshing and astringent power. (...) A botanical species whose use in folk medicine has centuries-old origins is Euphrasia officinalis, fam. Scrophulariaceae. The drug is made from the whole plant and contains astringent, calming and decongestant principles, such as euphrasiotannic acid, polysaccharides, waxes, mineral salts and an essential oil. (...) "
