The catuaba is a medicinal remedy of the tradition of the South American Indians Tupi and Guarani (the word "catuaba" literally means "the source of the strength of the Indians"), which is extracted by infusion from the bark of the floral plants Erythroxylum vacciniifolium and Trichilia catigua. Catuaba is a very powerful restorative and invigorating tonic with strong aphrodisiac and central nervous system stimulating properties, used for the treatment of sexual disorders and decreased desire. In Brazil it is also known as Chuchuhuasha, Tatuaba and Caramuru.
