Centella

Homeopathic remedy

Active principles:

Terpenes and triterpenes 2-8% (asiaticoside, osiasiaticoside, bramoside, centelloside), free acids (a.asiatico, a. Madecassico, a. Centellinico, a. Betulico etc.), essential oils, flavonoids, tannins and sugars.

Effects

Healing and restorative

Both in external and internal local use, centella contributes to the healing of burns, wounds, skin ulcers due to venous or arterial insufficiency, traumatic injuries, pressure sores, varicose veins, etc.

Cellulite

The action against cellulite is due to the ability to improve the structure of the connective tissue and reduce sclerosis with a direct action on the fibroblasts.

Cirrhosis of the liver

While there are no effects on chronic hepatitis, the preparations based on Centella have shown an improvement in cases of cirrhosis caused by alcohol. In general, several studies have confirmed the usefulness of centella in fibrotic liver diseases.

Venous insufficiency

The effects in the treatment of venous insufficiency problems seem to be due to the action of improving the connective structure of the perivascular sheath and therefore to the reduction of sclerosis with the result of facilitating blood flow. In practice, these are all those diseases whose symptoms consist in the sensation of heaviness in the legs, cramps, etc.

Mental functions

The triterpenes showed a mild tranquilizing, anti-stress and anxiolytic activity accompanied by a stimulus of cholinergic receptors (neurotransmission both at the central and peripheral nervous system level). For this reason it would show an action, especially in children, tending to favor mental functions and concentration.

Internal and / or external use

Hydroalcoholic solution

Indications : Cellulite, burns, varicose and arterial ulcers, bedsores, scarring difficulties, wounds, varicose veins, edema of the lower limbs, liver cirrhosis from alcoholism and liver fibrosis, stimulation of mental abilities.

Dosage : 30 drops in a little water three times a day before meals.

For external use, a 5% ointment of centella hydroalcoholic solution is recommended. The most effective treatment is associated with internal use and external application.

Warnings and undesirable effects: When taking Centella-based preparations it is good to limit direct exposure to sunlight as photosensitization can occur.
