SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Self Test Nasal

Do it yourself test

Description
The SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Self Test Nasal is a "lateral flow" test used for the qualitative detection of SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid antigen in human nasal samples. The test detects SARS-CoV-2 virus antigens in people with suspected COVID-19 infection. It is intended for use as a "do it yourself test" for patients. The clinical performance of the SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Self Test Nasal for the "do it yourself" test was evaluated using nasal swab samples from 146 participants in a prospective study (139 of which within 7 days of symptom onset) that occurred carried out at a clinical center in Germany. Clinical evaluations were carried out independently of manufacturer and distributor, as part of a collaboration between the Charité university hospitals in Berlin and Heidelberg. The study cohort included symptomatic adults (18 to 68 years of age) with clinical suspicion of SARS-CoV-2 infection. In the do-it-yourself group, study participants followed written instructions, accompanied by illustrations, to self-collect a nasal swab sample and perform the test themselves. occurred in the presence of health workers, who however did not intervene at any stage. PCR tests performed on a combination of deep nasal / posterior pharyngeal swab specimens were used as a comparative method. Nasal sampling by the do-it-yourself group has always preceded the collection with a deep nasal / posterior pharynx swab for the comparative RT-PCR method. SARS-CoV-2 infection was diagnosed (by PCR) in 27.4% of patients. The clinical performance of the SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Self Test Nasal was also evaluated against professional testing, performed after self-collection and professional collection of nasal swab specimens at the same clinical site. 229 adults with clinical suspicion of SARS-CoV-2 infection were included in the prospective study. 133 study participants (126 of whom within 7 days of onset of symptoms) were subjected to nasal sampling by healthcare professionals, while 96 study participants (83 of whom within 7 days of onset of symptoms) followed the instructions for self-collection of samples with nasal swab. The self-sampling of the samples took place in the presence of health workers. PCR tests were performed in the manner described above.
