VETERINARY SCREEN TEST
ScreenVet Urinary Tract Infection
Dog Cat Urinary Infection Rapid Test (Urine)
Description
Test for rapid detection of multiple analytes in animal urine.
The test is for the qualitative and semi-quantitative detection of one or more of the following analytes in urine: ascorbic acid, glucose, bilirubin, ketone (acetoacetic acid), specific gravity, blood, pH, protein, urobilinogen, nitrite, leukocytes.
Urinalysis test strips (urine) are for single use only.
For veterinary use only.
How to use
The urine sample should be collected in a clean, dry container and tested as soon as possible. Do not centrifuge. The use of urine preservatives is not recommended. If the test cannot be performed within one hour of collection, refrigerate the sample immediately and return to room temperature before testing. Prolonged storage of unstored urine at room temperature may result in bacterial overgrowth with changes in pH. An alkaline apH switch can cause false positive results in the protein test area.
Bring the strip, urine specimen and/or controls to room temperature (15-30°C) prior to testing.
Remove the strip from the unopened package and use it as soon as possible. Close the package immediately after removing the required number of strips.
Completely immerse the test areas of the strip in fresh, thoroughly mixed urine and remove the strip immediately to avoid dissolving the reagents. When removing the strip from urine, pass the edge of the strip against the rim of the urine container to remove excess liquid.
Hold the strip horizontally and bring the edge into contact with absorbent material (e.g. a sheet of kitchen paper) to prevent the chemicals of adjacent reactive areas from mixing and/or getting your hands dirty with urine.
Compare the reactive areas with the corresponding color blocks on the package label according to the specified times. Hold the strip close to the color blocks and compare carefully.
Results can be read up to 2 minutes beyond the specified times. The results can also be read using the Urine Analyzer.
The results are obtained by direct comparison with the color blocks printed on the packaging.
Color blocks represent nominal values; actual values vary similarly to nominal values.
In the event of unexpected or equivocal results, the following steps are recommended: ensure that the strips have been used within the expiration date printed on the package, compare the results with certain positive and negative controls and repeat the test using a new strip. If the problem persists, stop using the strip immediately and contact your local distributor.
Warnings
For in vitro diagnostic use only. Do not use beyond the expiration date.
The strip should remain unopened in the package until use.
Do not touch the reaction areas of the strip.
Discard any discolored strips that may have deteriorated.
All samples should be considered potentially hazardous and handled as infectious agents.
The used strip should be discarded according to local regulations after use.
