VETERINARY SCREEN TEST
ScreenVe Panleukopenia
Panleukopenia Rapid Test (Stool or Vomit)
Description
A lateral flow immunochromatographic test for the qualitative detection of Feline Panleukopenia Virus (FPV Ag) from feline feces or vomit.
The test is based on the direct (or sandwich) method. While performing the test, the sample is applied to the well (S) on the test cassette. FPV antigens, if present in the sample, will react with the gold-coated anti-FPV antibodies found in the test strip. The mixture then migrates up the membrane chromatographically by capillary action and reacts with the anti-FPV antibodies in the membrane at the test line region.
If the sample contains Feline Panleukopenia Virus, a colored line will appear in the test line region indicating a positive result.
If the sample does not contain FPV antigens, no colored lines appear in the test line region indicating a negative result.
As a procedural control, a colored line will always appear in the control line region, indicating that the correct volume of specimen has been added and membrane purge has occurred.
How to use
Before running the test, ensure that the cassette, specimen, reagent and/or controls are at room temperature (15-30°C).
Remove the test cassette from the foil pouch and use it as soon as possible. The best results will be obtained if the test is performed within at least one hour.
Swab the cat's feces or vomit from the cat's anus or on the ground. Insert the swab with the sample into the reagent tube provided. Stir to ensure that a good amount of sample is extracted.
Place the test on a clean, flat surface. With the dropper in vertical position, transfer 3 drops of extracted sample (about 120 mcL) into the well (S) on the cassette, then start the timer.
Read the result at 5 minutes. Do not interpret results after 10 minutes.
Interpretation of results
POSITIVE: Two lines appear, the control line (C) and the test line (T). The result must be interpreted as positive regardless of the color intensity of the test line (T).
NEGATIVE: Only one line appears, the control line (C). The test(T) line does not appear.
INVALID: The control line (C) does not appear. Regardless of whether or not the test line (T) appears, the result should be interpreted as invalid.
Warnings
Do not use beyond the expiration date.
Handle all specimens as if they contain infectious agents. Observe established precautions against microbiological hazards during testing and follow standard procedures for proper disposal of specimens.
Wear disposable gloves and eye protection when handling specimens.
Ambient temperature and humidity can adversely affect results.
Do not remove the test cassette from its packaging until ready to use.
Do not reuse the test.
Do not mix components of different lots and products.
For in vitro veterinary diagnostic use only.
All results should always be evaluated by the veterinarian taking into account other available clinical data. To confirm the results, confirmatory methods such as PCR testing are recommended.
storage
Store in the sealed pouch at room temperature or refrigerated (2-30°C). Do not freeze.
The test is stable until the expiration date printed on the sealed pouch. The test cassette should remain in the sealed pouch until use.
