The Dunaliella salina microalgae, a source of beta-carotene, favors the trophism and functionality of the skin. Acerola has an antioxidant action. Vitamin E contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.

Betacarotene is the carotenoid most present in nature and is the precursor of Vitamin A, known for maintaining skin health, for bone development and for maintaining the efficiency of vision.

The beta-carotene used in the formulation of Optima Naturals derives from the oceanic microalgae Dunaliella salina, preferable over other sources of beta-carotene since, in addition to having a general protective effect for the skin, it is able to prevent aging caused by the sun's rays.

Acerola (Malpighia punicifolia) is a small fruit native to South America also known as the "Antillean cherry", due to the similarity of its berries to cherries. This plant is a rich natural source of Vitamin C and, with an amount of ascorbic acid 30-50 times higher than that contained in citrus fruits, it is a powerful natural antioxidant for the skin.

Vitamin E has an effective antioxidant action and contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress. Together with Vitamin C it acts against free radicals, responsible for cellular aging, an accelerated process following sun exposure.
