Sofargen Spray what it is for
Sofargen Spray is a topical spray powder dressing containing light kaolin and silver sulphadiazine.
How the components of Sofargen Spray work
The light kaolin creates a mechanical barrier to external agents, protecting the damaged skin, and at the same time drains and absorbs exudates.
The presence of silver sulphadiazine, a metallorganic compound obtained by reacting silver nitrate with sulphadiazine, prevents microbial contamination of the dressing and keeps the wound environment free from other exogenous bacteria.
What is the formulation of Sofargen Spray
The particular formulation of Sofargen Spray therefore allows to control exudates by creating an environment that facilitates the natural healing process and provides an effective barrier to microbial penetration.
The product remains easily "in situ" and is not affected by the stretching of the wound edges. It can be easily removed by cleaning the lesion with saline.
Composition of Sofargen Spray
Light kaolin 9.7 g; micronized silver sulphadiazine 0.1 g; anhydrous colloidal silica 0.1 g; calcium gluconate monohydrate 0.1 g; butane as propellant 70.0 g.
When the use of Sofargen Spray is recommended
Sofargen Spray is indicated for the local treatment of small skin lesions such as: abrasions, abrasions, cuts, superficial wounds and dermatological affections in general.
How Sofargen Spray is used
To use this product it is recommended to proceed as follows:
- Shake the can vigorously for a few seconds before use.
- After proper cleaning of the lesion, be sure to direct the dispenser nozzle in the direction of the lesion to be treated, keeping the can in a vertical position at a distance of about 15 cm from the surface to be treated.
- Then apply a uniform layer of Sofargen Spray on the lesion, pressing the dispenser button for a few moments.
- The application of Sofargen Spray must continue without interruption once or twice a day until complete healing.
- At each renewal of the application, thoroughly cleanse the lesion with water or physiological solution.
- The powder contained in Sofargen Spray will tend to stick to the wound (due to the presence of exudate) or to the macerated skin, while on the surrounding healthy and dry skin it will tend to remove spontaneously.
- Where appropriate or necessary, after applying Sofargen Spray, cover the lesion with a plaster or bandage depending on its size.
Precautions for using Sofargen Spray
Patients with known individual hypersensitivity to the components should not use Sofargen® Spray. It is recommended not to use the product for more than 4 weeks. Consult your doctor in case of incomplete healing or if unwanted symptoms arise. Protect your face when you spray the upper body. Avoid inhaling the nebulised powder. In case of accidental ingestion or inhalation of the dust consult your doctor.
Warnings for the use of Sofargen Spray
The powder dispensed exposed to light may tend to become brown in color, due to the silver ion present in the formulation. However, this phenomenon does not compromise its efficacy and safety. Do not apply the product together with liquid or solid disinfectants. Put the cap back on the can after each application. In pregnant women and in infancy, use the product after consulting a doctor. Sofargen Spray should only be used for the treatment of small lesions.
Keep the product out of the reach and sight of children
