Indications
Mandibular advancement device for the therapy of oncopathies and sleep apnea somnofit is indicated in the following cases:
- Snoring.
- Moderate apnea.
- Apnea in certain specific cases: travel, camping, boat, holidays (it is advisable to consult a doctor) ò Bruxism, migraine due to jaw tension.

How to use
Somnofit includes two pieces, lower and upper, with groove.
The user can easily take impressions of his teeth once, by immersing the individual bites in water that will be heated, to soften the thermoformable material, at the temperature indicated on the enclosed float thermometer.
The two bites are then connected by means of an elastic band that regulates the advancement of the mandible.
The user thus has a perfectly customized and ready-to-use Somnofit.
It will be enough to introduce Somnofit in the mouth every evening before going to bed.
During the first few nights, the user must get used to wearing ibite and therefore we recommend using the tape marked +6.
This figure represents the advancement in mm of the lower jaw in relation to the normal position assumed without the Somnofit.
Depending on the different dental morphology, the real value of the advance may vary.
After a few nights of adaptation, adjust the appliance following these simple tips:
- if the jaw pull is too strong and uncomfortable, use a lower value band (for example 4.5 instead of 6).
- If the snoring still does not decrease sufficiently, use a higher value band (for example 7.5 instead of 6).
In general, a feed of 4.5 mm to 7.5 mm is sufficient.
In the case of sleep apnea, verification of the effectiveness of mandibular advancement should preferably be evaluated together with a specialist doctor.

Characteristics
Somnofit is based on the well-known medical anti-snoring solution called mandibular advancement. It is also a useful alternative in cases of mild apnea, as it avoids the extremely demanding use of nasal ventilation using a continuous positive pressure device (CPAP). The principle on which the Somnofit advancement orthosis is based is to push the lower jaw forward a few millimeters, to facilitate the passage of air and unlock the posterior part of the tongue. Numerous clinical studies show that the mandibular orthosis, such as Somnofit, is able to eliminate or significantly reduce oncopathy or sleep apnea.
The package is composed as follows:
-One bite with more than 2 hooks.
- A lower bite with 4 hooks.
- A floating thermometer.
- A vented container.
- A bag containing elastic bands.
- Instructions for use.

Contraindications
Contraindicated in the following cases:
-Removable dental prosthesis,
-Partial dental prosthesis with insufficient sealing,
Pain in the jaw joint
-Mobility and instability of the dentition, upper or lower jaw with less than 10 teeth,
-Patient under the age of 18.

Possible side effects
Dental sensitivity upon awakening after Somnofit removal. The symptom disappears after tightening the jaws 10-15 times.
Pain in the anterior part of the ear, variable over time: with regular wear of the device, the symptom usually subsides over a few days (if this does not happen, choose a lighter elastic band, for example 4.5 instead of 6 or consult a doctor-dentist).
Hypersalivation which tends to decrease after a few days of regular use, dry mouth, possible feeling of nausea very rarely observed (destined to disappear in a short time).
Modification of the area of dental occlusion (of the relative position of the maxilla and mandible with the mouth closed). If the jaw does not return to its original position after wearing the Device, we recommend that you stop using it.
If unpleasant side effects persist, remove the appliance and consult a dentist.

Maintenance, useful life, warranty
In the morning, remove Somnofit, brush it with toothpaste, rinse it and leave it all day in any container of lukewarm water in which half a tablet of antibacterial cleaning solution for dentures has been poured.
Before re-applying it in your mouth, wipe off the liquid and rinse with cold running water Regularly check the general condition of the appliance.
In general, the useful life of the appliance is 8-15 months and depends on factors such as maintenance, nighttime closing of the teeth (bruxism) and the degree of acidity in the mouth.
It is therefore not possible to guarantee it for a fixed period.
It will be guaranteed only in case of manufacturing defects.
Furthermore, the results related to the reduction of snoring or apnea cannot be guaranteed, as they are dependent on the user's anatomy.
It is essential to replace the device if there are cracks, cracks or wear.
