Speed TSH
Description
Fluorescence immunoassay for the quantitative measurement of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) in canine serum or plasma.
It is a quantitative and rapid immunochromatographic test that allows to obtain a dosage of circulating TSH by means of a laser-induced fluorescence analysis.
How to use
Sample
Only use serum or plasma (lithium heparin) samples. Do not use whole blood or EDTA plasma.
No significant interference was observed for the following molecules at concentrations up to: lipids 20 g/L; bilirubin 500 mcmol/L; hemoglobin 800mg/L.
If the test is not performed within one hour, transfer the serum or plasma to a dry tube.
Samples should be at room temperature (18°C to 27°C) and centrifuged before testing.
The presence of fibrin strands in the sample could cause incorrect results, due to blockage of the pipette and reduction of the volume of the aspirated sample. In this case, centrifuge the sample again.
Correct use of the pipette
Always keep the pipette, sample tube and reagents upright to ensure correct sample volume.
Use a new disposable pipette tip for each test.
Hold down the plunger of the pipette and insert the tip into the sample, being careful not to touch the walls of the tube. Slowly release the plunger of the pipette while keeping the tip end immersed in the sample.
Remove the pipette from the sample tube and check that there are no air bubbles in the tip. If air bubbles are present, discard the sample and repeat the sampling.
Test run
The Speed TSH test cannot be interpreted visually and should only be read using a Speed Reader analyzer.
Do not mix test devices, reagent tubes, and calibration chips from different lots.
Storage of samples up to 7 days: Store serum or plasma in a refrigerator at +2°C to +8°C. Beyond 7 days, store serum or plasma in a freezer (at -20°C).
Allow the reagent and test cell to reach room temperature (18°C to 27°C) for at least 30 minutes before use.
Press "New Test" on the Speed Reader analyzer before starting the procedure to run the test. Follow the instructions on the screen.
Using the dropper tip, puncture the aluminum foil to fully open the reagent tube. Place a new disposable tip on the pipette. Transfer 200 mcL of sample into the reagent tube, following the instructions for proper pipette use. Carefully seal the reagent tube with the dropper cap. Gently mix the contents by inverting the tube at least 5 times. Do not shake.
Remove the plastic lid from the dropper cap and discard the first 2 drops of the mixture, to flush out the dead space in the dropper. Completely remove the test cartridge from the Speed Reader analyzer and add two drops of solution to the well of the test cartridge, holding the tube with the dropper in an absolutely vertical position.
When the instruction appears, insert the test device into the cartridge holder in the direction indicated by the arrow (sample well first), then perform the other on-screen instructions. Read the results on the screen.
Interpretation of results
TSH concentration is measured in ng/mL – Dynamic range: 0.1 ng/mL to 2ng/mL.
