T-Vedo Mercury Free Ca-Mi Clinical Thermometer
Medical device class IM - Mercury free
Useful for clinical measurement of body temperature when positioned in axillary or oral or rectal site. T-Vedo is equipped with a case that facilitates the reading of the temperature through the innovative accessory that acts as a magnifying glass.
How to use
To lower the liquid metal column in the T-Vedo model, securely clamp the end of the thermometer between the thumb and forefinger and taking care not to squeeze it too much and not to hit anything, shake the thermometer several times towards the low, until the liquid column drops below 36 ° C.
Axillary (placing it under the arm ): if you place the thermometer on the armpit you get a surface temperature that can fluctuate approximately between 0.5 ° C and 1.5 ° C compared to rectal temperatures in adults. Once the thermometer has been positioned, the patient must keep his arm closed to the body, without exerting pressure but ensuring contact between the bulb and the armpit. The average measurement time for this method is approximately 5 minutes. It should be noted, however, that an exact reading cannot be obtained if, for example, the armpits have cooled down. In this case, it is recommended that you extend the measurement time by approximately 2 minutes to get the most accurate reading possible that matches your body temperature as closely as possible.
Oral (placing it in the mouth) : there are several warm areas in the mouth. In general, the oral temperature is 0.3 ° C - 0.8 ° C lower than the rectal temperature. To ensure the most accurate reading possible, place the tip of the thermometer on the left or right of the root of the tongue. The tip of the thermometer should be in constant contact with the tissue while reading and should be placed under the tongue. Keep your mouth closed while reading and breathe regularly through your nose. Do not eat or drink anything before measurement. The average measurement time is approximately 3 minutes.
Rectal (placing it in the rectum) : This is the most medically accurate method, as it is closest to the body's temperature. The tip of the thermometer is carefully inserted into the rectum for a maximum of 0.5 cm. The average measurement time is approximately 3 minutes.
The liquid metal column must always be brought below 36 ° C before starting a measurement.
Before each use it is necessary to perform a correct cleaning / disinfection / sterilization of the thermometer (based on the type of application, the environment where it is used and single or mixed use). Sterilize in alcohol for medical use or in plastic sterilization tubes.
In case of rectal measurement it is advisable to apply a specific lubricant before insertion.
It is advisable to avoid physical activity, as well as bathing, eating or smoking at least 30 minutes before taking the measurement.
Avoid underarm measurement after applying deodorants with refreshing or silver particles or other. Their application may partly interfere with correct measurement.
Warnings
The use of clinical thermometers for oral temperature measurement is absolutely not recommended in children under 10 years of age.
Patients in whom the thermometer is applied orally should be very careful to avoid chewing, talking, playing, running or moving until the thermometer is removed from the mouth.
Rectal use of the thermometer on babies should be applied in a quiet environment, under continuous supervision and supporting the thermometer with one hand to prevent it from penetrating too deeply or sliding outward.
Always check the structural integrity of the device at least once a year.
