Active principles

100 grams of solution contain: Active ingredients: procaine hydrochloride 9.50 g; benzocaine 1.15 g.

Contraindications / Undesirable Effects

Known hypersensitivity to anesthetics.

Dosage

Lightly spray the liquid once or twice on the painful part or in the dental cavity, keep the liquid in place for about five minutes, then expel it. The application can be repeated several times. Do not exceed the doses recommended by the doctor: in particular elderly patients should follow the minimum dosages indicated. Use only for short periods of treatment.

Warnings

Absorption: the topical use of anesthetics in high concentration, for absorption through the mucous membranes or the severely damaged skin, can cause systemic symptoms of considerable entity such as central nervous system depression, respiratory depression, hypotension, cardiac rhythm alterations. For this reason, due caution must be taken when using local anesthetics, especially in cases with severely damaged mucous membranes. Subjects treated with local anesthetics for dentistry, during the first period, must consult the dentist every day. Sensitization: the use, especially if prolonged, of products for topical use can cause sensitization phenomena (redness of the skin, itching, breathing difficulties, collapse): if an allergic reaction occurs, the use of the medicine must be stopped immediately and consult a doctor . Allergic reactions can appear due to cross-reaction phenomena in patients already allergic to other local anesthetics: these patients must therefore avoid using the product. Special precautions for some categories of patients : the use of local anesthetics should be avoided in elderly and debilitated subjects, in epileptics, in states of shock, in people with myasthenia gravis, in patients with severe hepatic or renal insufficiency, in patients with thyrotoxicosis, cardiovascular diseases.

Interactions

The medicine may inhibit the therapeutic effects of sulfonamides.

Side effects

Allergic reactions in hypersensitive subjects are known: they can also occur at subsequent administrations to the first due to hypersensitivity of the subjects In severe cases, which exceptionally have also been described with the use of local anesthetics in high concentration for absorption through the skin or damaged mucosa, systemic symptoms of considerable entity may be observed such as respiratory depression, central nervous system depression, hypotension, alterations in the heart rhythm; it has been reported that benzocaine can cause methemoglobinemia at high doses, usually not achievable with the use of Dentosedina.

Overdose

No cases of overdosing have been reported in the literature.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If a woman intends to become pregnant or suspects she is pregnant, she should consult her doctor before using the drug. Do not administer the product in the first trimester of pregnancy; in the further period it must be administered only in case of real need and under the direct supervision of the doctor. As the quantity of anesthetic absorbed and its eventual elimination through breast milk is not known, it is not recommended to take the product to breastfeeding women.
