Mochi is made up of delicious loaves of a special variety of rice (the so-called "sweet rice") which is steamed and then pounded to form a thick and full-bodied dough, which is then dried. Sweet rice cakes can be cooked in a thick pan or, more easily, in the oven. They are enjoyed with soy sauce.

Mochi is a Japanese pie, made with sweet brown rice grains, steamed and pounded for a long time until the hot dough has reached a thick and sticky consistency.
