Thanks to its active ingredients, the plant in addition to having a diaphoretic and antispasmodic action, also seems to have a vasodilating action, accompanied by a negative inotropic action on the heart and this would induce the use of European Tilia as a coadjuvant in the therapy of hypertension, because it can to cause a decrease in blood pressure thanks to vasodilation and the decrease in cardiac tone (Winters, Phytotherapy).

Components
The European Tilia contains, in the flowers with the bract, an essential oil largely made up of an aliphatic sesquiterpene alcohol, called farnesol. The drug also contains some compounds of a flavonoid nature (quercetin, tiliroside, tilianina).
