The focal centers of both lenses are aligned on the same axis and the interpupillary distance is between 58 and 64 mm. The diopters of the two lenses have the exact same dioptric power. In order to correctly evaluate the extent and nature of a visual defect, a prior eye exam by a qualified professional is necessary. Pre-assembled glasses for presbyopia, industrially manufactured with lenses of identical dioptric power, are indicated exclusively for the correction of "simple presbyopia". Presbyopia is characterized by a physiological and progressive weakening of vision which generally manifests itself after the age of 45 with a series of disorders such as difficulty reading the newspaper or distinguishing small objects well up close. Presbyopia is considered simple when to correct the visual defect, both eyes require the same number of corrective diopters (diopters are the unit of measurement of visual ability). The pre-assembled glasses are only suitable for near vision and must not be used for driving, distance vision or eye protection. Improper use or the use of the wrong size of glasses can cause various vision disorders, with possible headache. In this case an eye check-up is necessary. Only the ophthalmologist is able to evaluate the state of health of the eyes and the extent of visual disturbances. Pre-fitted glasses for presbyopia do not improve vision in case of eye diseases, such as cataracts or macular degeneration. Pre-assembled glasses for presbyopia must not be used in cases of "complex presbyopia" or in the presence of astigmatism or anisometropia or when the number of diopters in each eye is different. Astigmatism is a vision defect due to irregular curvature of the cornea which determines a blurred and deformed vision of images while anisometropia is characterized by a different refractive error in the two eyes.

To clean glasses and lenses, use water and liquid soap, avoiding the use of solvents and alcohol.
