The unicaria (Uncaria tomentosa) is a plant native to South America particularly widespread in Peru, also known by the name of cat's claw due to the curved thorns it uses to support trees, which resemble the nails of this feline.
The use of the bark of uncaria has a long history in the tradition of folk medicine for chronic inflammatory diseases, wounds, ulcers and in inflammatory processes.
Its bark is in fact rich in active ingredients, among which the alkaloids stand out, substances to which anti-inflammatory and support activities of the body's natural defenses are attributed.
