Alumina XMK Granules
Homeopathic medicine
The homeopathic remedy Alumina is obtained by trituration of the alumina with lactose and subsequent dilutions / dynamizations in a hydroalcoholic solution. The preventive treatment of alumina with the Hahnemannian method of trituration with lactose, is indispensable for the insolubility of said mineral substance and therefore serves to bring into solution the active ingredients which would otherwise be insoluble; after which it is possible to proceed with the method of dilutions in hydroalcoholic solution, interspersed with dynamizations, up to the desired power.
Alumina is industrially produced from bauxite, through the Bayer process.
Bauxite is a mineral that has the highest concentration of alumina existing in nature, even if this never exceeds 60%; the remainder is mainly made up of silica (ie silicon dioxide, SiO2), iron oxide (Fe2O3) and other oxides or fluorides. It is a volcanic or sedimentary rock with a color ranging from yellow to brownish red, as the quantity of iron contained in it increases. It owes its name to “Le Baux de Provence”, a French town in the Pyrenees where the first mines were opened in 1822. The largest deposits of this mineral are found in Australia and in Central-South America, but also in the USA, in Russia and as regards Europe in Hungary and in the former Yugoslavia.
The Bayer process (whose name is due to the Austrian chemist Karl Joseph Bayer who in 1888 developed this method which allowed to enormously reduce the production costs of alumina and therefore of metallic aluminum from bauxite) essentially consists of two phases, one chemistry to produce alumina and the other electrolytic to produce aluminum. In the first phase (chemical) caustic soda (ie sodium hydroxide, NaOH) is used and a heating to about 1200 ° C (calcination) is used to extract the alumina from the bauxite. In the second phase (electrolytic) with the electrolysis of the alumina fused into cryolite (complex salt of aluminum, fluorine and sodium, Na3AlF6) the oxygen is separated from the alumina to obtain aluminum.
Quite significant quantities of alumina are also contained in pure clay and in particular in white clay, where they can reach a consistency of 36% or more. However, the extraction process is very expensive.
FEATURES OF THE REMEDY
Alumina intoxication causes irritation, dryness, dryness of the mucous membranes and skin, as well as paralysis of the involuntary muscles, especially of the bladder and rectum.
The person in need of Alumina is dehydrated, thin, sad and sulky, hypochondric, apprehensive, whiny and grouchy, inattentive to the point of making mistakes when speaking. He is indecisive, easily frightened, has a changeable mood, has a phobia of knives and blood. His sleep is disturbed, agitated, so he doesn't wake up rested.
The Alumina subject has alternating redness and paleness; the appetite is irregular as well as all its other functions; irritating foods cause him to cough, a dry cough. It cools easily and when it is cooled it becomes voiceless in the morning and in the evening. He raises and moves his arms with difficulty, his legs are numb and heavy. Hair, eyelashes, body hair fall out. He has the sensation of a red-hot iron in his back, of a tight rope around his neck, of a cobweb on his face.
Alumina is a suitable remedy for those suffering from chronic diseases, people with dark complexions, weak, easily tired, women who tire after menstruation (the latter symptom is particularly important for women).
Most symptoms occur in the morning upon awakening.
In Alumina everything is dry (Alumina does not sweat), everything is slow: swallowing, digestion, evacuation. Alumina affects the rectum so that it makes it difficult to defecate even when the stools are small and soft. It is often associated with Sepia or Bryonia. It is considered the chronic form of Sepia and the complementary of Bryonia.
Symptoms appear periodically: every other day, or after a certain period; they get worse, then they get better and vice versa; they come and go.
The Alumina type is cold; symptoms worsen with dry cold, in the morning when he gets up, if he takes a sitting position, after eating potatoes; they improve with heat, with the exception of itching, and with humidity.
Alumina corresponds to a constitution that can be defined as psoric: tired elderly, weak people, who have a tendency to catarrhal affections and tuberculosis, dizziness, disorientation, confusion of speech, amnesia. The remedy is an antipsoric whose action is slow and lasts for months; for this reason it is useful in colds, flus, relapsing skin diseases, in the same way as Silicea, Graphites, Sulfur and others.
USE OF THE REMEDY
It is used in the following main cases, when the symptoms correspond and are associated with the characteristics of the remedy:
1) APP. RESPIRATORY: dryness and dryness of the nose, with thick, crusty secretions and cracks on the outside of the nostrils; dryness of the mouth and pharynx that forces the person to scratch the throat and cough to clear the throat; almost absent salivation; difficulty swallowing; hoarseness. It is used in cases of chronic angina of singers and old speakers.
2) APP. GASTRO-INTESTINAL: gastritis, acid and bitter regurgitation after meals, stomach weakness, chronic constipation accompanied by dryness and inflammation of the rectum, aversion to potatoes because they aggravate the symptoms. Alumina is an excellent homeopathic remedy in cases where the stimulus for defecation is lacking, even when the stools are soft: there is no peristalsis and the subject is able to expel only with great effort, has fissures and anal dryness. It differs from Bryonia and Ammonium muriaticum, in that the former is characterized by small and hard stools released with less effort, the latter by hard and chopped stools emitted with a burning sensation in the rectum.
3) APP. URINARY: urine is also emitted with difficulty and generally together with the effort to defecate. Alumina is often used to treat some prostate problems.
4) SKIN dry, withered, without perspiration, without sweat. The skin on the back of the hands is thickened, itchy, cracked. The itching increases at night, with the heat of the bed and forces the subject to scratch blood; only then does it subside; improves with wet. Alumina can have itchy rashes of all kinds with the sensation that the skin of the face is covered with dried egg white or a spider web. It also has itching and redness in the toes, as if there were chilblains, which get worse in winter, with the cold. The remedy resembles Petroleum as this also has skin cracks, but it does not get worse with the heat of the bed. It also resembles Graphites in its cracks, but there is secretion in this one.
5) EYES: strabismus, due to the paresis of the eye muscles, in children.
6) HAIR, LASHES, HAIR of the whole body, falling out.
7) PAIN in the soles of the feet when walking, with the sensation that the trampled ground is soft. Periodic pains followed by periods of remission, which occur every other day, at longer periods, appear and then disappear, reappear and so on. Pain in the spine.
8) LIMBS: locomotor ataxia (loss of coordination of muscle movements, due to injury to the nervous system). Difficulty lifting and moving the arms. Numbness in the legs while sitting. Heavy legs and arms. The remedy is able to stop the evolution of locomotor ataxia if used at the first symptoms.
9) ALZHEIMER: elderly people who suffer from this disease.
10) MENTAL CONCENTRATION which turns out to be particularly poor. The remedy is able to improve the ability to concentrate as it positively affects brain functions.
11) Dizziness which increases when closing the eyes.
