The homeopathic remedy Silicea is obtained by triturating the precipitated pure silica with lactose and by subsequent dilutions-dynamizations in a hydroalcoholic solution.

Silicea is a constitutional remedy indicated mainly in chronic cases, and in particular in children, the elderly, women, chilly subjects, asthenic, with a tendency to chronic suppurative processes, rather fussy, stubborn and insecure.

The homeopathic remedy Silicea is generally used in the following cases:

asthenia, weakness, malnutrition, weight loss, even in children
bronchitis, sinusitis, nasopharyngitis
excessive shyness and emotionality
bone problems, fractures, brittleness, calcium absorption difficulties, tooth decay, osteoporosis, weak and white-spotted nails
styes, pimples, acne
disturbed sleep, sleepwalking, nightmares

SILICAA: NAILS AND HAIR

It often happens that the problem of brittle nails and hair occurs in asthenic and tired individuals, in these cases Silicea is an excellent solution.

SILICAA: HOMEOPATHIC TYPE

Silica gives hardness, stiffness to cells that would otherwise be soft. Just like it happens to the shell of the eggs; its solid consistency, in fact, derives from the fact that while pecking the hens also take on grains of sand (silica) and this is deposited on the cell as a shell (Kervran, French biologist). The silica, therefore, gives grit to the body and morale. Like the egg, human silica-free cells are void of tone and systems made from these cells do not perform their functions perfectly.

It is therefore no coincidence that this remedy is indicated for the following biotype: the Silicea type (which is more usually female, but can also be male) has a slender, minute and thin constitution, just like grains of sand. He is long-limbed, pale, thin, with poor musculature and weak respiratory capacity; it may show signs of demineralization such as brittle nails covered with white spots. Its constitution is therefore mainly phosphoric.

The constitutional type Silicea is:

perpetually tired, both physically and cerebrally: even before starting the day he has already exhausted his strength, has great difficulty concentrating, he feels stressed;
disheartened (probably Silicea is the most disheartened of all the Materia Medica): he places little faith in himself and in others
insecure and helpless: he fears that anyone may be offensive, aggressive and dangerous towards him. As a result, he reveals a real phobia of sharp objects (needles, pins, scissors, knives, etc.)
very nervous: easily irritable, hypersensitive (to noises, smells, lights), gets aroused not at all.
very cold: he always feels cold, often shivers even during exercise, has cold feet and hands. Women feel even colder in the menstrual period.

His temperament is therefore mainly nervous, accompanied however by different connotations typical of the lymphatic, in the sense that the impetuosity of the nervous biotype follows the fatigue of the lymphatic.

But the key symptom of the Silicea subject is the marked tendency to suppuration, so much so that every slightest wound or lesion or sore (skin, mucous membrane or bone) tends to become infected and form pus. Silicea is the remedy for chronic suppuration processes, that is, those that drag on for a long time, hindering cicatrization.

The symptoms of this subject worsen with damp cold, with drafts, in winter, during menstruation, in the evening and at night, during physical activity, following vaccinations. Instead, they improve with heat and hot applications, with the head covered, in summer.
