Vaginal pH test
Description
Screening device intended for the detection of the main forms of vaginitis from vaginal fluid samples.
The kit is intended to be used by or under the direction of a qualified medical professional. The test is very simple to use and only a minimum of staff training is required to become experts in the accurate diagnosis of vaginitis and each of its particular cases. These trained operators can also easily instruct or assist patients with the use of the kit themselves.
Treatment and regimens thereof require consultation with a doctor. The vaginal pH test should not be used for self-diagnosis and self-treatment.
The vaginal pH test kit will only be used in medical settings, clinics and hospitals or professional laboratories – places where women can personally verify the test performed. Test kit procedures can only be performed by qualified medical professionals who have carefully read and understood the instructions for use. Samples must be tested on site, and cannot be transported to remote locations for testing.
Instructions for use
Wash your hands thoroughly.
Carefully pass a sterile wipe over the patient's inner and outer labia to reduce the bacterial load outside the vaginal opening.
Insert the tampons about 5-7 centimeters into the vagina. Do not insert near the cervix as pH results may be inaccurate.
1. Insertion of the sterile swab into the vagina: gently touch the internal walls of the vagina with the swabs, making sure that the swabs are all thoroughly moistened.
Leave the swabs in the vagina for a few minutes to ensure they are saturated with vaginal fluid.
Remove tampons from vagina.
Rub the buffer saturated with sample fluid onto the pH zone. Discard the swab into a biological sample container.
Read the color pH after 1 minute, and compare the result with the color chart.
Interpretation of Colors: A grayish purple or bluish green color indicates a positive result, a pH greater than 4.7. This may indicate a bacterial infection. No color change indicates a pH below 4.7, which is normal for the vagina. This indicates the absence or very low level of bacterial infection or trichomoniasis.
Warnings
