Red Valerian Sarandrea Drops - Hydroalcoholic Solution

Perennial herbaceous plant up to 150 cm tall. The leaves are green, almost glossy, oval or oval-lanceolate, the lower ones with petiole, the upper sessile, sometimes verticillate. The small, fragrant flowers have a rosy-purplish or whitish corolla, carried in compound corymbs, forming a terminal panicle.

Curiosity

The name of the genus “Centranthus” comes from the Greek centron = goad and anthos = flower. Valerian name formed in the Middle Ages from the Latin verb “valere” = to heal.

Active principles

Essential oils up to 0.2% (valeranal, valeranone, valerenic acids, pinene, camphene, borneol, trpineol), iridoids valepotriates (valtrates, dihydrovaltrates, acevaltrate, homoacevaltrate), alkaloids (actinidia, ketinin), siterquiterpenes, trisaccharides.

Internal use (hydroalcoholic solution)

The red valerian can in some cases replace the officinal one, it possesses sedative nervine, hypnotic, spasmolytic and hypotensive properties
Indications : Insomnia, anxiety states, palpitations of nervous origin, hyperexcitability, headaches, menstrual pain, menopausal disorders, neurasthenia and psychasthenia, hysterical states, stress, gastro-enteric spasms, polyuria and polydipsia, mild hypertension.
Dosage: 80 drops in a little water twice a day after meals. In insomnia 150 drops in the evening before going to bed.

Synergistic drugs: MELILOT, OLIVE TREE, PASSIFLORA, VALERIANA OFFICINALE.

Warnings

Too high and prolonged dosages can cause gastric irritation, headaches, nausea and agitation.
