A group of women was tested in a controlled environment simulating seven different lighting scenarios, with professionally applied concealer, foundation and / or face powder, and took their selfies with iPhone 6S and / or Samsung Galaxy smartphones. Most of the study participants said the resulting image was "no flashback" or "perfect" or "perfect".

The "flashback" occurs when the white particles in the face make up reflect the light released by the flash photography, creating a white cast in the photos; eliminating these particles fights that flashback. 'Flawless' or 'perfect' represents your own self-evaluation of the image which has all the desired qualities.
