Xazepin AB Pharm Food Supplement

Contains Lactium ® (partially hydrolyzed casein), Melatonin and Valerian.

Lactium®

Lactium® is an α - casezepine, which is an active decaptide derived from milk proteins, typically produced by infants during the lactation period. Adults lose their ability to synthesize this milk peptide with weaning. For this reason it would seem that the state of calm and relaxation of newborns after drinking milk is not linked to the sense of satiety but to their ability, through these enzymes, to release this milk peptide.

Lactium® has a high affinity and selectivity for some receptors of the Central Nervous System, defined GABA-A receptors; This mechanism of action would allow to stimulate the activity of the neurotransmitter GABA capable of inhibiting anxiety and the response to stress.

Melatonin

Melatonin, chemically N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine, is a hormone produced by the pineal gland, or epiphysis, located at the base of the brain. It acts on the hypothalamus and has the function of regulating the sleep-wake cycle.

It belongs to that particular family of amino acids that must be obtained through the diet. In the body it undergoes various metabolic reactions through which the neurotransmitter serotonin is produced first and Melatonin through further steps.

Valerian (Valerenic Acid)

Valerian is attributed with sedative properties of the Central Nervous System, antispastic and anxiolytic.
More precisely, the sedative and anxiolytic activities seem to be exerted by the valepotriates and by some constituents of the essential oil of valerian, such as valerenic acid and while the spasmolytic activities seem to be attributable to valerenic acid alone.
The mechanism by which the aforementioned molecules are able to reduce the anxiety component has to do with the metabolism of GABA (γ-aminobutyric acid), the main inhibitory neurotransmitter of the CNS. More specifically, it seems that these compounds contained within valerian are capable of interfering with the degradation of GABA. Studies conducted on animals have also shown that, following the intake of valerian, there is an increase in the levels of GABA in the synaptic space, obtained through the inhibition of reuptake and the increase in the secretion of the same neurotransmitter.
The sedative and anxiolytic properties of valerian have been confirmed by several studies and it is for this reason that the use of the plant has been officially approved for the treatment of states of agitation and associated sleep disorders.

Indications

Xazepin can be used in cases where there is a reduced intake or a greater need for its constituents, which occurs mainly during: states of stress and generalized anxiety, sleep and mood disorders.
